Platinum #336-340: Reverie (PS4 AS, NA & EU, Vita EU & AS)

Hey there!

I’ve spend the last days playing through this great game 5 times in a row and I enjoyed every second of it. If only the NA Vita version would have a physical release…

What is the game all about?
Reverie is an action-adventure that takes places on a fictional New Zealand island called Toromi Island. You take control of a young boy called Tai, with whom you’ll fight your way through dungeons, do some side-quests, and explore the island. Per the developers, the story is inspired by the legend “Maui and the Giant Fish”.
As soon as you start the game, you’ll see that it is also highly inspired by games like The Legend of Zelda and Earthfall, but you’ll also see some major differences. The biggest one is for sure the weapon. Instead of a sword you’re using a cricket bat. Which fits very well to the setting of New Zealand.
Dungeons and bosses are very well introduced and are getting more complicated and harder over the time. During each dungeon, you’ll unlock further equipment like a Jo-Jo or a snorkel, which will allow you to access new areas of the island.
Speaking of the island, there is a lot to explore and to discover. It’s full of hidden caves, humans and other secrets. There are also 2 mini-games: There’s a shmup inside the Arcade, and there’s also air hockey, you can play against a microwave. You will spend a lot of time exploring the island if you want to see everything.
The game isn’t over after seeing the credits. Beating the game will unlock a bonus dungeon, which is by far the hardest part of the game.
The retro-graphics are very charming and the soundtrack fits perfectly.
Overall, Reverie is for sure (one of) the best independent game(s) of 2018.

What about trophies?
There are story-related trophies, trophies tied to collectibles as well as trophies for doing some miscellaneous stuff like rearranging your inventory. Nothing is missable, as you can load your last save after beating the game.
If you want to get the game done ASAP, follow this video guide by IBadDriverI. With this, you should be able to beat the game within 2-4 hours.

Where can I get this game?

Hey there! A short and easy pixel-art game with a few survival elements. Very enjoyable! What is the game all about? The Long Reach is a 2D side-scrolling adventure / point and click game mixed with a few survival horror elements. The pixel-art is very appealing and retro-fans will love this game. Most of the time you’re in control of Stuart, who acts as a guinea pig for a company called General Education. After a very confusing beginning, you’re trapped inside this company and you must find a way out. For this, must collect items and solve puzzles. Furthermore, you will learn more about the backstory and the main story will become clearer. Until drugs become involved – from then on, it’s hard to determine what’s real and what’s just an imagination. The game is very dark and the flashlight will become your best friend. Although it takes a while until you find it. As mentioned, this game also contains survival horror elements. Later in the game you encounter some enemies and you must f...
