Recently, I was flipping channels and happened to come across a dramatized documentary on the History Channel called The Men Who Built America . It's a mesmerizig account of the early titans of American industry, and is hands-down one of the best documentaries I've ever seen. It tells the story of men like Cornelius Vanderbilt and John D. Rockefeller, who built massive business empires (and mindboggling fortunes). Setting aside their sheer ruthlessness in many instances, the men in the documentary display certain characteristics that I believe are necessary for success in just about any business endeavor, whether it's a Fortune 100 company or simply your own self-publishing business.  Passion You have to have passion for what you're doing. It should incite and excite a fervor in you. Thus, if you're an author, the thought of writing a book - having a finished tome out there - is something that should get your blood pumping. Wow! What a week! Last week we took the opportunity to have a booth at GDC - where we were met with smiles, praise and compliments galore! It was seriously amazing and refreshing to have people who had never heard of our game come up to the booth, try out one of the two demos (or both!) and tell us how much they liked what we were doing. We certainly didn't expect so much warmth to come from having a booth set up at GDC Play, so it was a pleasant surprise! We ended up documenting some of the experience with photos and even some video for you guys to see and enjoy too :) Sunday On Sunday we finished both builds of our demos, cut the GDC trailer, and set up a mock-booth space inside Koriel's house. We had tested the demos as much as we could, and the mock booth gave us a good idea of what we could bring in the cars (and what would fit in our 6x8 booth!).
